More Bus Moves

Yep, for the third consecutive weekend, there's been still another mini-trade (Jajuan's term) between FG and 77th. Apparently the switch was made overnight. I'm not yet sure how many buses were involved, but here's a list of the ones I sighted on BusTracker at their new homes:

77th: 1218, 1220, 1221, & 1226

FG: 6865, 6867, & 6875.

I wasn't able to track any 6850s out of either barn, as of 9 AM.

So there you have it, folks: Chapter 3 of ????. (I won't even try to speculate about further changes).

Sounds like 77th has all ex FG NF's except the #1090's and #1080's. I'd be surprised if they got those. I think before the spring pick FG might get #1040-80's from Chicago and loses the #6500's and then Chicago gets the smart buses, but still somewhere Fg has to gain buses. They can't do the #76 on what they currently have.

1190 is still at FG. It was operating on one of the JeffPark feeder routes earlier today. So far, the lowest-numbered NF tracked at 77th appears to be 1195.

This may or may not be significant, but 77th is operating an all-New Flyer fleet today. Their remaining Novas are the oldest and probably the most decrepit ones in the fleet. Just speculating, but the focus may be on limiting their service until they can be replaced. Until today, those old Novas were operating pretty much 24-7.

I was told it was #1466 that wrecked at Diversey/Kedzie.

I was trying to figure out this accident at Armitage and the Milwaukee road underpass. Looks like #10?9

attachicon.gifcta-bus-ax-1.jpg

Now that's some good trivia. I didn't know a NF was wrecked during delivery. I thought that only happened to Pace. :P So was it a 40 or 60 footer?

Anyone seen 1089??? I get a slight make on a "8" as that third number...

Seen a 4300 hybrid with a North Park Garage sign heading north around Randolph and Lakeshore last night.

I have seen 4300's on North Park runs before, but that was last year when the Cubs were in town. They were used to most likely supplement baseball and Lane Tech busloads because they get crowded when both are going on, or when the #154 is being used(I've seen about 8-10 4000-series artics parked at Wrigley during the games). Last year, I remember seeing 4336 on the #152 with a "K" run. You mention a DE60LFR spotted which Kedzie has some of. That could've been a glitch with the LED displays, or like what happened with #6845, this bus could've been a loaner for a NP bus, as several artics are at South Shops according to garmon's information(most being from NP). With NP running a lot of Lake Shore routes plus the #152(school trips), they might've needed a few #4300's and/or #4333's from K.

The GM Fishbowl, New Looks and Flxible(I'm presuming Metro, but it could be a New Look... you didn't specify) could be Yard Goats of some sort... what their purpose is if that is the case, I don't know... North Park used 4200(M.A.N Americana) as a Yard Goat for several months/years after they were all retired. I don't believe it's still on premises. Do they run/look like they might be still operable despite their conditions(I'm sure they are probably rusty with paint chipping/peeling off and various parts missing). I haven't seen any recent pics, however...

It's a though question to answer about the GM's but my concern is why are they still out there. The Flxible that's haven't been scrapped is indeed a Metro but I'm not sure if it's 5300s or 6000s.

Easy to differentiate the 5300's from the 6000's. The 5300's have an angled rear and the 6000's have a straightened rear. Also 5300-5344 and 5766-5769 have what would be called steel wheels and 5745-5765 and 6000-6329 have Alcoa rims(but the back will tell you the series).

The only real distinctions are that the 5300s have a route sign box on the back while the 6000s had a flush sign, and the flip dot headsigns were replaced with LED ones on the 6000s. Seating arrangement also may be different.

The problem is that it was very dark to determine which one it was while the yard had poor lighting (I should've came earlier when it was daylight). However, both of you are right about the descriptions of both of them.

Also if you can make out the grab handles on the #6000's inside the front door those are yellow versus black on the #5300's. That was one of the things that was new starting with those buses.
